Shroud of Turin Study
1st Edition Relief Print on Canvas, 48"x36" 2004 3 of 3. This large print was the 3rd and most well formed of the 3. The first was on a light blue thick cotton sheet. The second was printed on a red canvas and can be purchased here. This very print has been exhibited publicly for the past 12 years only 12 times. Once a year on the most solemn day in Christianity it has been exhibited during the Good Friday services at St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church in Frelsburg, Texas. The block for this print was cut during the artist's recovery from abdominal surgery. The making of the block was very curative and recuperative for Michael. His pain during recovery mas much more bearable know what our Lord and Savior had endured. It was carved with chisel and hammer from a wood block, the very tools and work process of hammering on the chisel to cut the wood would evoke strong emotions in Michael, reminding him of the contributions his own sins have made in the suffering of Christ's Passion.
