Shroud of Turin Face in Glaze
Hand thrown stoneware vessel. After having been fired it was noticed that where the light and the dark glazes ran together a face seemed to appear resembling the image believed to be the face of Christ on the Shroud of Turin. The image may only be in the eye of the beholder, but it has a very strong meaning for the artist himself. At the time he was also working on a 4'x3' wood print that was a study of the Shroud of Turin (view in Reproduction Prints section). He took it as a sign.
